It is a great opportunity for our students to be a part of AUAYF 2019 hosted by the University of Colombo this year. However with limited resources available, the number of participants has been limited and the students’ involvement should be more in the event especially because the ultimate purpose of the whole event is to get whole Asian region towards common policies, empowering youth to address the burdens common to the region. Therefore to optimize the students’ involvement, our volunteers planned to conduct mini sessions at each Faculty prior to the forum with regard to the theme of the forum. Having a mini session on one of the sub-topics of the forum will give more opportunities for the students to be involved in the event and to create a platform for the student body to have a discussion about the forum and also about the issues the forum is going to address on.
From the volunteers of the programme, one student from each faculty has been appointed as the responsible student for the mini-session conducted at each faculty. As the first phase, mini sessions will be conducted at the following faculties, and the appointed volunteers to coordinate the activities are
Faculty of Arts – Lara Wijesuriya
Faculty of Medicine – Imalka Weerasundara
Faculty of Science – Tarindhi Ratnayake
UCSC – Aathil Ahamed
Mini sessions phase 2 will be conducted at other faculties which were not included in phase 1.
